Two Line Reviews - #121

Movie: A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

Plot: An emotionally and mentally drained lady comes to her sister's house seeking shelter. Her antics irritate the ill-tempered brother-in-law which in turn spoils the couple's happy life routine. How he successfully evicts the sis-in-law from his place ends the story.

Highlights:
  • Marlon Brando (his perfectly fit physique was a surprise) doesn't look like he is acting. He lives the character he plays and it shows! To do a thing of that sort when one is fresh out of 'stage drama' profession is incredible.
  • Vivien Leigh, as the bewitched clueless soul performs very well.
Lowlights:
There surely was an element of dramatic acting by all the lady stars involved. Maybe, that was the order of the day in the 50s.

My Rating: 9.1/10
