Movie: Reservoir Dogs (1992)

 

Plot: A heist gang with members of no prior acquaintance is formed to rob diamonds off a bank. They find the cops readily waiting for them during the heist operation. They open fire, get back to their hide-out & have a discussion on who the rat in the gang was!

 

Highlights:

• Quentin Tarantino's first film & it should have indeed been such a promising start then. A very different attempt. (Couldn't help noticing the striking resemblance Tarantino in this film has with Roger Federer)
• The 'colourful' characters & their conversations. Especially,Madsen impressed me with his lethargic attitude.
• The twists were damn good.

 Lowlights:

The non-linear narration,for once, hasn't seemed to have gone well. That too, after the suspense gets revealed.

Movie: Kill Bill Vol.2 (2004)

Plot: The revenge saga of Beatrix,the bride continues as she pins down the three members left in the squad. This time she goes for the kill as she knows that She & Bill have unfinished business.

Highlights:

• This one is a tribute to Chinese martial arts & Western films of the 50s-60s.
• The resurrection of Uma Thurman from the grave os Schultz - Riveting.
• The soundtracks yet again!
• The totally unexpected manner in which the climax unfolds.

Lowlights:

There is literally no sign of 'Police' even with gun shots being fired in Hotels!

Movie: Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)

Plot: "Revenge is a dish best served cold". This film is all about that. A victim of betrayal makes a checklist to kill the members of the 'Deadly Viper Assassination Squad' she was once part of & she starts doing that in (awe)some style!

Highlights:

• Quentin Tarantino is THE style master. The most stylish film I ve seen. By style I don't mean costumes & sets. The way even gore is shown stylishly is astonishing. Also the blending of the styles of Hollywood & Japanese Films was superb.
• Uma Thurman ROCKS! She carries off a violent role, which nobody would associate with a woman, with total ease.
• The soundtracks used for the film are all brilliant & used in apt places. I felt goosebumps raise on my skin when the Ennio Morricone track from Death Rides a Horse was played.

Lowlights:
Logical fallacies. There a quite a few of them including the sword fight with 50 odd men before the climax.
